Student Guide

Last updated: February 12, 2026

Welcome to Coaching Booth! This is your personal portal for everything related to your vocal lessons. Here you can see when your next lesson is, check what your teacher wants you to practice, listen to recordings from your lessons, and track your progress toward your goals. Think of it as your musical journey, all in one place.

Quick Overview

As a student, your portal is designed to keep you connected to your learning between lessons. Here's what you can do:

  • See your schedule - Know when your next lesson is and view your full calendar
  • Check your homework - See what your teacher wants you to practice before your next lesson
  • Track your goals - Keep an eye on what you're working toward
  • Listen to recordings - Hear yourself from past lessons and track your improvement
  • View your songs - See all the songs in your repertoire
  • Read lesson notes - Review what your teacher wrote about past lessons

Your Dashboard

When you log in, your dashboard gives you everything you need at a glance. It's designed to answer the question: "What should I focus on before my next lesson?"

Next Lesson

Right at the top, you'll see your next scheduled lesson. This shows:

  • Date and time - When your lesson is happening
  • Your teacher - Who you'll be working with
  • How long until the lesson - A countdown so you can plan ahead

If you need to reschedule, click on the lesson to see your options.

My Goals

Your current learning goals appear on the dashboard. These are objectives you and your teacher have set together - things like "Extend my range by three notes" or "Learn the full lyrics to three new songs." Seeing them regularly keeps you focused on the bigger picture, not just the day-to-day practice.

Practice Focus

This is your homework section - what your teacher wants you to practice before your next lesson. Each item shows:

  • What to practice - A clear description from your teacher
  • Any special instructions - How to approach the practice
  • Due date - Usually your next lesson
  • Completion checkbox - Check it off when you've done it

Completing your practice focus is one of the best ways to make fast progress. Your teacher can see which items you've completed, so they know what to follow up on during your lesson.

Upcoming Schedule

A mini calendar shows your lessons for the week. This helps you plan your practice time around your lesson schedule.

Your Goals

Goals are the milestones of your musical journey. You and your teacher set them together, and they give direction to your lessons and practice.

Viewing Your Goals

Click Goals in the navigation to see all your learning objectives. You'll see two sections:

  • Active Goals - What you're currently working toward. Each goal shows its description, when it was set, and any progress notes your teacher has added.
  • Achieved Goals - Goals you've completed. This is your trophy case! Looking back at what you've accomplished can be really motivating, especially on days when you feel like you're not making progress.

What Makes a Good Goal?

The best goals are specific and measurable. Here are some examples:

  • "Sing through 'Amazing Grace' from memory without stopping"
  • "Develop stronger breath support - hold notes for 8 counts comfortably"
  • "Prepare two songs for the spring recital"
  • "Improve pitch accuracy on interval jumps"

If you have ideas for goals, bring them up with your teacher! Goal-setting is a collaboration.

Songs & Recordings

The Songs section is your personal repertoire - every song you're learning or have learned, along with recordings from your lessons.

Your Song List

Click Songs in the navigation to see everything in your repertoire. Each song shows:

  • Title and artist - The basic info
  • Status - Where you are with the song:
    • Learning - Still working on it
    • Performance Ready - You could perform it confidently
    • Mastered - A go-to song in your repertoire
  • Recording count - How many recordings are attached

Listening to Recordings

Click any song to open its detail page. Here you'll find all the recordings your teacher has made during your lessons. This is one of the most valuable features for your growth.

To listen to a recording:

  1. Click the play button next to any recording
  2. The audio player will appear with playback controls
  3. Use the progress bar to skip to different parts
  4. Adjust volume as needed

Tracking Your Progress

Recordings are dated, so you can compare how you sounded a month ago to how you sound now. This is incredibly valuable because:

  • You hear what others hear - We can't hear ourselves accurately while we're singing
  • Progress becomes tangible - Day to day, improvement feels invisible. Comparing recordings proves you're growing.
  • You can identify patterns - Maybe you notice you always rush a certain section

Listening tip: When reviewing recordings, try to listen objectively. Don't focus only on what went wrong - notice what went right too! Progress is about building on strengths as much as fixing weaknesses.

Practice Focus (Homework)

After each lesson, your teacher assigns Practice Focus - specific things to work on before your next lesson. This is different from just "practicing" in general. It's targeted homework that will help you make the most of your next lesson.

Viewing Your Assignments

Click Practice Focus in the navigation to see all your current and past assignments. Current (incomplete) items appear at the top.

Each assignment includes:

  • Description - What to practice
  • Instructions - How your teacher wants you to approach it
  • Due date - When it should be completed (usually your next lesson)
  • Status - Whether it's pending or complete

Marking Items Complete

When you've worked on a practice item:

  1. Open the practice focus item
  2. Click the checkbox or Mark Complete button
  3. The item moves to your completed list

Your teacher can see what you've completed, which helps them plan your next lesson. If you completed some items but not others, that's okay - mark what you did so your teacher knows where to pick up.

Getting the Most from Practice Focus

Practice focus works best when you:

  • Check it right after your lesson - Read through while everything is fresh
  • Break it into daily chunks - Don't try to do everything the night before
  • Focus on quality, not time - 15 focused minutes beats an hour of distracted practice
  • Mark items complete honestly - If you struggled with something, that's useful information for your teacher

Calendar & Scheduling

The Calendar shows all your scheduled lessons. You can view your full schedule and manage appointments here.

Viewing Your Calendar

Click Calendar to see your lessons. You can switch between:

  • Day view - Hour-by-hour view of a single day
  • Week view - See your whole week at a glance
  • Month view - Overview of the entire month

Click any lesson to see its details, including the time, teacher, and any notes.

Rescheduling a Lesson

Life happens - sometimes you need to move a lesson. Here's how:

  1. Find the lesson on your calendar
  2. Click to open its details
  3. Click Reschedule
  4. Choose a new date and time from the available options
  5. Add a note if you want to explain the change
  6. Click Confirm

Your teacher will be notified automatically. Try to reschedule as far in advance as possible - your teacher appreciates the heads up!

Canceling a Lesson

If you need to cancel entirely:

  1. Open the lesson from your calendar
  2. Click Cancel Lesson
  3. You may see a cancellation policy notice - review it
  4. Add a reason if you'd like
  5. Click Confirm Cancellation

Note: Your studio may have a cancellation policy (like 24-hour notice required). Check with your teacher or studio admin if you're unsure about the policy.

Lesson History

Every lesson you've had is saved in your Lesson History. This is your archive of progress - a record of everything you've worked on.

What You'll Find

Click Lesson History to see all your past lessons. Each lesson record shows:

  • Date and time - When the lesson happened
  • Teacher - Who taught the lesson
  • Notes - What your teacher wrote about the session
  • Practice focus assigned - What homework came from that lesson

Using Your History

Your lesson history is useful for:

  • Remembering what you covered - "What did we work on last week?"
  • Tracking patterns - Notice themes in what your teacher emphasizes
  • Preparing for lessons - Review previous notes before your next session
  • Seeing your journey - Look back at where you started versus where you are now

Getting Ready for Your Lesson

Here's how to use Coaching Booth to prepare for your lessons and follow up afterward.

A Day or Two Before

  1. Check your Practice Focus - Log into Coaching Booth and review your homework. Have you completed everything? If not, now's the time to catch up.
  2. Mark completed items - Check off anything you've finished so your teacher knows your status.
  3. Review your goals - Think about questions you want to ask or things you want to discuss related to your goals.
  4. Listen to recent recordings - If your teacher recorded you last time, give it a listen. Notice what's working and what you want to improve.

Right After Your Lesson

  1. Check for new Practice Focus - Your teacher likely assigned new homework. Read through it while the lesson is fresh in your mind.
  2. Review lesson notes - If your teacher added notes, read them to reinforce what you discussed.
  3. Plan your practice - Based on your new assignments, think about when you'll practice this week.

During the Week

  1. Work through your Practice Focus - Tackle one or two items per practice session rather than everything at once.
  2. Mark items complete as you go - Don't wait until the end of the week - check them off when you've done them.
  3. Listen to recordings occasionally - Use them as reference for your practice.

Your Profile

Your profile contains your personal information. To view or update it:

  1. Click your name or avatar in the navigation
  2. Select Profile

Here you can update:

  • Name - How your name appears in the system
  • Email - Where you receive notifications
  • Phone number - Contact number (optional)
  • Parent/guardian contact - If you're a minor, your parent's information

Make sure your email is correct - that's how you'll receive lesson reminders and practice focus notifications.

Tips for Success

Students who get the most out of Coaching Booth share these habits:

  • Log in between lessons - Check Coaching Booth at least once between lessons. Staying connected keeps you engaged.
  • Complete your homework - Practice Focus isn't busywork. It's targeted practice designed to help you improve faster.
  • Mark items complete honestly - If you struggled with something, that's okay! Your teacher needs accurate information to help you.
  • Listen to your recordings - Hearing yourself is one of the best ways to improve. It might feel awkward at first, but you'll get used to it.
  • Review before lessons - Spend 5 minutes looking at your goals and practice focus before each lesson. Walk in prepared.
  • Celebrate your achievements - Look at your achieved goals and listen to old recordings sometimes. You're making progress!

Getting Help

If you run into questions or problems:

  • Technical issues - Can't log in? Something not working? Contact your teacher or studio admin. They can help troubleshoot or escalate to Coaching Booth support.
